Itinerary
Pickup from your hotel in the Khao Lak area
We've got you covered! Your friendly driver will pick you up around 8:00 AM in a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus right outside your hotel lobby. Pickup time may vary depending on the location of your hotel, but we will confirm the exact time when you book.

Tsunami Memorial Park
During your day's program, you will have the opportunity to visit the Tsunami Memorial Park in Khao Lak/Bang Niang. Police boat 813, "Buretpadungkit," was one of two boats whose crew was tasked with protecting Khun Poom Jensen and his family. Khun Poom Jensen, the grandson of the late King Rama IX, Bhumibol Adulyadej, and nephew of the current reigning King Rama X, Maha Vajiralongkorn, drowned after being struck by the tsunami while jet skiing off the coast. Police boat 813 was anchored about a nautical mile offshore before being swept inland and eventually coming to rest against a tree at the bottom of a hill. Today, the 60-ton vessel stands as a memorial about 2 km inland, just meters from the exact spot where it came to rest. Your informative guides will provide you with a local perspective on the events of that fateful day, and visiting the vessel at its resting place will give you a deeper understanding of the tragedy.

Bamboo Rafting
For centuries, bamboo rafts have been used to transport people and goods on Thai waterways. It's an ideal way to explore and navigate the region's dense green rainforests and limestone mountains. Floating downriver on a bamboo raft provides an excellent opportunity to observe the diverse flora and fauna that grace the riverbanks. In the forest canopy and along the riverbanks, you may spot playful monkeys, monitor lizards, colorful birds, and sleeping snakes, making this tour an ideal activity for nature photographers. Your experienced local rafting guide will help you spot rare creatures you might otherwise miss.

Royal Thai Navy Sea Turtle Conservation Centre
The Third Fleet of the Royal Thai Navy welcomes you to its naval base in Thap Lamu, south of Khao Lak. Here, you can observe the various species of sea turtles that live in Thai waters at various stages of growth. A visit to the center is a wonderful experience for all ages and an obvious highlight of the day for children. Five of the world's eight species of sea turtles live in Thai waters. These include the hawksbill turtle, the green turtle, the olive ridley turtle, the loggerhead turtle, and the largest of all, the leatherback turtle, which can grow up to 700 kg.
Following a drastic decline in the sea turtle population in Thai waters, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit initiated the establishment of the Sea Turtle Conservation Centre by royal decree in 1979. Originally under the Ministry of Fisheries, conservation efforts were later transferred to the Royal Thai Navy, utilizing the full force of the Third Fleet to patrol the coastal waters of Phang Nga and the national marine parks in addition to the conservation center's responsibilities.

Lunch and Relaxation by the Waterfall
Thai cuisine has become renowned worldwide for its extraordinary blend of aromas and flavors. Over the years, scientific research has revealed numerous health benefits of Thai cuisine, making it a preferred choice for health-conscious individuals around the world. Take a break and enjoy a delicious Thai lunch near a tranquil waterfall. After hat, you'll have time to view the waterfalls, relax, look at your photos, or chat with the other tourists who joined you on the tour.

Local Buddhist Temple
Visit a traditional Buddhist temple, where you'll have the opportunity to receive a brief introduction to Buddhism and its rich history in Thailand. Thai Buddhist temples are known worldwide for their ornate beauty, so this part of your day offers an ideal photo opportunity as you leisurely stroll through the temple grounds.
We kindly remind you that appropriate attire is required when entering the temple grounds. As a sign of respect, shoulders and knees must be always covered, and shoes and hats must be removed before entering the temple. Please remember that this is sacred ground and appropriate dress and behavior are required.
If you have any questions about permitted behavior on the temple grounds, please don't hesitate to ask your tour guide, who will be happy to assist you during your tour. We thank you for your understanding and look forward to making your visit to the temple an unforgettable experience.

Elephant Bathing
We look forward to taking you to an elephant camp in the heart of Phang Nga Province. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will warm your heart and give you memories to last a lifetime! Asian elephants are playful creatures who love to splash and play in the water, and you are welcome to join them. It is advisable to bring swimwear, as you are sure to get wet!

If you plan to take photos or videos of this unforgettable moment, we recommend bringing a waterproof bag to protect your electronic devices. You never know when an elephant might surprise you with its trunk! At Khao Lak Land Discovery, we take your safety seriously and are committed to the ethical treatment of elephants in Thailand. Therefore, we do not encourage you to mount or ride these majestic animals.
